We will prepare lunch over an open fire including a traditional beef chilli con care and a three-bean chilli for vegetarians. Both will be served with jacket potatoes, prepared in tin foil in the embers of the fire and served with a choice of soured cream, grated cheese, salsa, jalapeno peppers and tortillas.
This option is as much an activity as it is a meal. Our expert will set up a field kitchen and teach you how to prepare wood pigeon and trout to be cooked over an open fire using age old techniques. When the pigeon breast has been marinated in juniper berries and rosemary and slow cooked on a wrought iron skillet before being served with homemade soda bread and rocket leaves with an unparalleled view over Windermere it is definitely one of our favourite meals.
Our pizza chef is more than happy to prepare a pizza to your liking but equally loves you to get involved; you’ll get stuck into dough tossing and pizza making, taking your pick from a mouth-watering selection of fresh ingredients before using the pizza peel to put them into the searing heat of the wood fired oven where they’ll be ready to eat in just 90 seconds.
We’ll match a menu to your requirements and budget sourcing the finest local ingredients which our barbecue chef will prepare freshly for you. Alternatively, we can offer a hog roast with a wide selection of salads.
From the lakeshore to the mountain top and arriving by foot, boat, 4×4 or bike we can tailor your estate picnic to suit you perfectly. We’ve hosted corporate groups, families, parties of friends and couples but we’re still desperately waiting for our first estate picnic proposal!
For larger events requiring some first class ‘nose bag’ we’ll bring our horse box on-site offering fajitas, meatballs, wood-fired pizzas and more. With lots of choice and our great chef this option is foody heaven.
